Steve Hogarth (as Ronald Stephen Hoggarth * May 14, 1959 in Kendal ,) is a British singer and keyboard player . Since 1989 he has been the lead singer of Marillion .

Life

Steve Hogarth (nickname "h") was active from 1981 as a keyboardist and occasionally as a singer with " The Europeans ". In 1984 he and his bandmate, guitarist Colin Woore , left the band to record an album called "How we live" (Dry Land - 1987), which was unsuccessful. Hogarth was a session musician on Toni Childs ' debut "Union" (1988).

In 1989 he replaced Fish as the singer and front man of Marillion . After the first two albums with Hogarth, "Seasons End" (1989) and "Holidays in Eden" (1991), the album "Brave" was released in 1994, for which there is also a real musical film that tells the story of a man standing on a bridge, tried to portray a young girl at risk of suicide in dark pictures.

In 1997 he recorded his first solo album (Ice Cream Genius) and went on tour from 2000 to 2003 with the pieces from this album and cover versions of his favorite rock songs under the name "h-Band".

From the beginning of 2006 he was on the road as a solo artist on his "h-natural" tour. He played these concerts, which are only intended for members of the Marillion fan clubs, solo, only with piano and vocals. Hogarth also gave solo concerts in the following years.

For some years now, Hogarth has been playing small-scale acoustic concerts with Peter Trewavas and Steven Rothery from Marillion under the name Los Trios Marillos, on which mainly Marillion songs are played.

In 2012 and 2013, two collaborations with keyboardist Richard Barbieri (ex Japan ; Porcupine Tree ) appeared. In 2017 the album "Colors Not Found in Nature" was released, a collaboration with the Swedish progressive rock band Isildurs Bane .
