Afraid of Sunlight is the eighth studio album by the British progressive rock band Marillion . It was released in June 1995. Between 1997 and 1999 EMI released the Marillion albums created under their label as a 24-bit digital remaster 2-disc version , of which this album was the last in this series.
Emergence
Despite receiving critical acclaim, the previous album Brave was n't exactly a huge commercial success. In the wake of this self-doubt, after completing the Brave tour, the first jam fragments of Afraid of Sunlight emerged . Although the creative way of working of the band did not differ from that of other albums, these efforts were crowned with no presentable success. It wasn't until Brave producer Dave Meegan went through the material and put it together that something suddenly emerged. Although never intended as a concept album, there is a certain common thread that deals with the successful ones in show business and their crashes.

The song Out of This World , which tells of Donald Campbell's death , inspired a Marillion fan and amateur diver to dive for the sunken speedboat and Donald Campbell's corpse. This undertaking was crowned with success in 2001.
