Wobbler is a retro prog band from Norway .

history

The group was founded in 1999 in Hønefoss . She is influenced by bands such as Gentle Giant , King Crimson , Genesis , Premiata Forneria Marconi , Museo Rosenbach , Anekdoten and Änglagård and released two demo recordings on the Internet in 2003, which were very well received in the international progressive rock scene. This was followed by invitations to various festivals and first reports in the scene's fanzines. In 2005 the musicians led by keyboardist and mastermind Lars Fredrik Frøislie released their first official album Hinterland . Almost four years later, in early 2009, Afterglow followed , which mostly contained old song material (including the two demo tracks mentioned above). In May 2011 the third album, Rites at Dawn was released . Just a few weeks later, the band announced on their Facebook page the departure of their long-time guitarist Morten Andreas Eriksen.

style

The compositions and the sound of Wobbler are very clearly based on the classic progressive rock bands of the 1970s. Your style of music can therefore be described as retro-prog .

The musicians place increasing emphasis on the use of original equipment from the 1970s, including a. Rickenbacker-Bass , Mellotron , Hammond-Organ , Hohner Clavinet , Fender Rhodes , Moog-Synthesizer and ARP Solina String Ensemble .
