Museo Rosenbach is an Italian progressive rock band that was founded in Bordighera in 1971 .
Band history
Museo Rosenbach emerged from two other bands and in 1973 released their debut Zarathustra , a concept album about Nietzsche's philosophy. The album was heavily criticized at the time, probably because of Nietzsche's Übermensch concept and a Mussolini image in the artwork, and the band soon broke up. Today Zarathustra is considered a classic of Italian progressive rock.
Giancarlo Golzi continued to be musically active and founded Matia Bazar in 1975 . After interest in the band arose again in the 1990s and some unpublished recordings became available, the original members Moreno and Golzi re-founded Museo Rosenbach. A second studio album was released in 2000, but it was more based on the Italopop . In 2012, Museo Rosenbach re-recorded their debut album with a slightly different line-up and in 2013 released a new studio album, which also represented a return to musical roots. A live album followed the following year.
Founding member Golzi died of a heart attack in 2015 at the age of 63.
