Danny Steinmann

Daniel B. "Danny" Steinmann (born January 7, 1942 in New York City , † December 18, 2012 ) was an American film director .

Life

Steinmann was born the son of East Coast art dealer Herbert R. Steinmann and his wife in New York City .

He started his film career as an adult film director and screenwriter of the hardcore porn film High Rise , which he shot under the pseudonym Danny Stone in Dover , Delaware . In 1976 and 1977 he co-produced Arthur Hiller's The Man in the Glass Boot and as an associate producer on Gene Roddenberry's supernatural television film Specter . In addition, he shot various advertising films with his production company in Puerto Rico , for example for House of Pancakes, Chase Manhattan Bank and Wesson Oil.

In 1980 he shot his first mainstream film under the pseudonym "Peter Foleg" with the horror thriller The Unseen . This was followed in 1984 directing the film Savage Streets with Linda Blair . In 1985 he directed Friday the 13th for Paramount Pictures .

Friday the 13th was his last mainstream movie and he returned to the adult industry as a producer in 1987.

Steinmann died on December 18, 2012 at the age of 70 in Los Angeles .
