Sound of Contact is an American progressive rock band from Miami , Florida that was formed in 2009.
history
In 2006, drummer and singer Simon Collins , son of Phil Collins , and keyboardist and guitarist Dave Kerzner met. In the beginning they covered Genesis songs like Keep It Dark . Together with Kelly Nordstrom they worked on Simon's solo album U-Catastrophe in 2008. In order to be able to play the album live, Matt Dorsey came on as bassist. In 2009, Collins and Kerner decided to start a band project. In 2010 they went with Dorsey and Nordstrom to Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver with sound engineer Chris Holmes to record the album Dimensionaut . The album was mixed by Nick Davis , while it was mastered by Gavin Lurssen and Rueben Cohen from Lurssen Mastering. The album was released in 2013 via InsideOut Music . On March 24th, the band began their tour with a performance in Montreal with Marillion , before playing in Europe with Spock's Beard in May .
style
The band plays progressive rock, with keyboard playing sometimes reminiscent of space rock . The songs have a tonally strong influence from bands like Marillion.
