Frequency Drift is a progressive rock and cinematic music band from Bayreuth .
history
The band formed in 2007 as part of a competition for keyboardist Andreas Hack. Her debut album was released by Musea in 2008 , the successor was thematically linked to it. Both parts of Personal Effects tell of the lives of two sisters in a dystopian future. The third album, Ghosts, is a concept album about memories that shape and haunt people. The fourth album Laid to Rest followed on from its predecessor and was released in July 2012 by the RPWL label Gentle Art of Music. That same month, Frequency Drift performed at the seventh Night of the Prog on the Loreley . After performing all over Europe, the band released their latest studio album "Letters to Maro" in April 2018.
style
Since the lyrics are usually connected by cross-album concepts and the band attaches great importance to the atmospheric design of their progressive rock or metal, they call their style Cinematic Prog.Characteristic for this, especially on the fourth album, are arrangements with influences from classical and world music as well the instrumentation with violin, harp, clarinet, flute and gemshorn .
