Knifeworld is a psychedelic rock band from England .

history

Knifeworld was started in 2002 by Kavus Torabi as a solo project and founded in 2009 as a full-fledged band.

After Torabi's previous band Cardiacs stopped their activities in 2008 due to an illness of Tim Smith, he concentrated on his solo project Knifeworld.

On August 17, 2009, the debut album Buried Alone - Tales of Crushing Defeat was released on Torabi's Believers Roast label (via Genepool Records), on which Torabi played practically all of the instruments himself. The single Pissed Up On Brake Fluid followed as a download-only version.

In the summer of 2009 Torabi formed a live formation, led by himself as singer and guitarist as well as Melanie Woods (vocals), Khyam Allami (drums), Craig Fortnam (bass), Emmett Elvin (keyboard) and Chloe Herington (vocals). The debut concert took place on August 18, 2009 in London. Shortly after this live performance, Torabi decided to establish these band members as the Knifeworld Band.

In the winter of 2010 Knifeworld began recording in the studio and in December of the same year the album Leader of the Starry Skies: A Tribute To Tim Smith, Songbook 1, with a cover version of the song The Stench of Honey by the Cardiacs, was released .

In July 2011 the album Dear Lord, No Deal was released . Shortly thereafter, Allami and Fortnam left the band and were replaced by Ben Woollacott (drums) and Charlie Cawood (bass).

In 2012 the EP Clairvoyant Fortnight and an accompanying video were released. Shortly thereafter, saxophonists Josh Perl and Nicki Maher joined the band.

In September, the download single Don't Land On Me was released with guest singer Chantal Brown from "Do Me Bad Things".

In early 2014 Knifeworld signed a contract with InsideOut Music and released the second album The Unraveling in July of the same year. Nicki Maher left the band and was replaced by saxophonist Oliver Sellwood.

In July 2016 Knifeworld will play at the Night of the Prog Festival on the Loreley in Germany .
