Eyevory is a German progressive rock band from Bremen . Their style is based on the progressive rock of the 1970s , but folk rock , classical music , pop and hard rock are also revealed in detail . The quartet is under contract with Artist Station Records.

history

Eyevory emerged from the pinK mercury formation in 2012, which changed its name after eight years for image reasons. The founding members include the two front singers Jana Frank (also bass) and Kaja Fischer (also flute and keyboards), guitarist David Merz and drummer Sascha Barasa Suso. In 2009 and 2010, the jury of the German Pop Foundation awarded the band first prize in the “Best Progressive Band” category of the German Rock & Pop Prize . The band is very successful live throughout Germany and has appeared as the opening act for Saga , Manfred Mann's Earth Band , Doro Pesch and Ray Wilson , among others .

In April 2012 the band released their debut under the new name, the EP The True Bequest . The seven songs were produced by Frank Bornemann ( Eloy ) in the Horus Sound Studio, Hanover , among others . Jana Frank and David Merz, son of the former Wallenstein singer, Kim Merz , are the creative minds of the band and brought many fresh ideas into the production, such as: B. a melody quotation played with the flute from the radio play series Die Drei ??? in the 9:38 minute song The Tower .

In March 2013, Eyevory achieved a real stroke of genius: A Symphonic Night of Prog Rock - a concert with an individually composed symphony orchestra in the Bremen slaughterhouse caused an international sensation and met with enormous popularity. In order to publish the concert as a live DVD, the band started a crowdfunding campaign and was able to collect over 9,000 euros from their fans within eight weeks to finance the project.

On April 26, 2013 Eyevory released their first album. Euphobia was released on the independent label Artist Station Records and closes with a cover number as a bonus track. Euphoria , the winning title of the 57th Eurovision Song Contest 2012 - composed by the Swedish producers Thomas G: son and Peter Lars Boström - provided the perfect template for Eyevory's completely new, very own interpretation.

Drummer Sascha Barasa Suso left the band in August 2013 at his own request. On the Euphobia Club Tour in autumn 2013, which was part of the album , he was represented by Florian Brüning as a guest. While the band was still looking for a new drummer, they worked with Mike Thorne ( Saga ) in the summer of 2014 , who recorded two songs on drums for the EP Hope .

On August 17th, 2014 Eyevory introduced their new drummer Andreas Tegeler ( Poverty's No Crime ) and announced a second studio album for 2015. But the new euphoria was unfortunately short-lived, because Tegeler left the band in January 2015 due to scheduling ailments.

In spring 2015 the band went on a European tour with Saga and Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Frank Alpers, who can also be heard on the second studio album Inphantasia, accompanied him on drums . The album was released on October 21, 2016 on the Artist Station Records label and was distributed worldwide by Soul Food . This is a concept album, the story of which tells of a fantasy world in which you take a journey through your own childhood. The material comes almost exclusively from the pen of Jana Frank and David Merz and is the most elaborate and detailed work that Eyevory has published to date. Around a dozen guest musicians, some of them exotic instruments, as well as a children's choir were used. In January 2016, Eyevory introduced Arne Suter as a permanent new drummer, who accompanied the band as a guest on the Hope Tour at the end of 2015 . For health reasons, however, he was unfortunately no longer able to accompany the band's biggest live event so far, a performance at the legendary Night of the Prog Festival on the Loreley open-air stage , and left the band entirely at the beginning of 2018. Christian Schmutzer joined the team as the new drummer in April 2018. He also accompanied the band at their first concerts in the UK in spring 2018.

style

The general style of the music can be described as Progressive Rock / Adult Orientated Rock , with a very distinctive feature being the use of two lead singers and a flute . The formation names bands like Genesis , Rush , Marillion and the singer Anouk as main influences .
