IZZ is an American progressive rock band from New York City .

The Galgano brothers formed the band in the late 1990s, naming them after a baseball player's nickname . They publish studio and live albums roughly every two years, which are often assigned to retro-prog in the tradition of Yes , Genesis , King Crimson , Gentle Giant and The Beatles . In their style, however, IZZ echoes a wide variety of genres and cite influences such as: B. also Sergei Sergejewitsch Prokofjew , Thelonious Monk , Steely Dan , Dave Matthews , The Police , Stevie Wonder and Everything but the Girl . Characteristic for the band are the polyphonic vocals and the use of two drummers.
