Seventeen (Japanese magazine)

Seventeen ( Japanese セ ブ ン テ ィ ー ン , sebuntīn ) is a Japanese fashion magazine that has been published by Shūeisha since 1968 . The target group of the magazine are high school students .

Release history

The first issue appeared in 1968. At that time, Seventeen was conceived as a weekly manga magazine . It should be aimed at a slightly older target group of girls than Margaret , who also appears on Shūeisha . Over time, well-known mangaka such as Ryōko Yamagishi , Riyoko Ikeda , Jun Fukami and Ai Shiraishi brought out their works in the Seventeen .

In 1987 the concept of the magazine was fundamentally changed. The frequency of publication has been changed from weekly to twice a month and the content has since been focused on fashion, while manga have completely disappeared from the magazine. In 2012 the magazine had an average circulation of 350,000 per issue.
