Sex (mountain name)
Sex [ sɛ ] is part of the name in French mountain names. The name is particularly widespread in the southwestern Bernese Alps , in the cantons of Valais and Vaud .
The origin of the word lies in the Latin saxum (rock), just like the Italian Sasso and the Rhaeto-Romanic Sass . Other spellings are Scex or French-Provençal Six ; in France the name Saix and Says also occur.
The designation is often found not only in names of peaks, but also in field names in rocky terrain. A former fortress of the Swiss Army near Saint-Maurice is called Scex .
