Sextiger is an Austrian metal / hard rock band, which is a Drahdiwaberl side project that was founded in 1983 by Chris Bauer. The trademark of Sextiger are the "tiger ladies" who dance to the music at every concert with bodies completely painted with tiger patterns. As with Drahdiwaberl, the line-up of the band and that of the actors changes frequently.

history

In 1983, as part of the annual Drahdiwaberl school closing party, a project called Sextiger was created, which was actually launched for an imaginary “talent show”. Since the Sextiger project is so well received by the audience, Chris Bauer decides to convert the project into a permanent band. The band's concept at the beginning only consists of appearing as support for some groups in Austria in order to gain awareness. In the first few years the line-up changes very often, except for the guitarists. The band released their first data carrier in the summer of 1986 in the form of a single called Marianne - Hasse mich . Sextiger had their first and only chart success in 1987, the single Tears of Pain made it to number 6 in the Austrian charts of Ö3 . In 1991 sex tigers played together with other well-known groups such as Böhse Onkelz in the Vienna Exhibition Center . The appearance of Sextiger is immortalized in the form of a VHS Too Hot to Handle . Sextiger's first CD was released in 1994 with the name No Poodles . Sextiger made their first international appearances in 1995 in Hollywood and London. The band played among others as support for KISS , Iron Maiden , Motörhead , UFO and Status Quo .

After a long break, Sextiger returned years later in the form of a tour of Austria to collect material for their first live CD, which was released in summer 2003. At the end of 2005 they are working again on a new album, which also contains German lyrics. Their fifth album is called Paws 'N' Stripes and was released in spring 2006. In February 2008 work on her new album Kill the Bunny will begin , which should have been released in the same year, but the release was postponed to mid-2010.

Since 2009 Chris Bauer has also been involved in many other projects, including a. the Rocktiger rehearsal studio and the Rocktiger Café in Vienna. In September 2013 the new album KIll the Bunny was released.
