Sextus Appuleius (Consul 14)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sextus Appuleius was a Roman politician and senator in the early 1st century AD.

Appuleius was a son of Sextus Appuleius , consul in 29 BC. He was related to the imperial family through his grandmother Octavia Maior , who was a half-sister of Augustus . Presumably he was a nephew of Publius Quinctilius Varus , since his sister is attested as the wife of the older Sextus Appuleius.

In the year 14 Appuleius became a full consul . With his colleague Sextus Pompeius , Appuleius was the first to take the oath on the new emperor and thus prepared the transition of power to Tiberius .
