The Mauritzviertel is a district, or in official parlance living area, of the Westphalian city of Münster . It belongs to the core area of the city and is therefore part of the Mitte district . The name of the district is derived from the former Sankt Mauritz office, from which it was incorporated into the city of Münster in 1875. Traditionally, the triangular area between Warendorfer Strasse , Manfred-von-Richthofen-Strasse and the Dortmund-Ems Canal , in the west of which is the St. Mauritz Church, is referred to as the Mauritzviertel . Due to its proximity to the city center and to nature, the eastern part in particular is a popular residential area.

In addition to its function as a residential area, there are and are still several public institutions in the Mauritzviertel, including the Münster Finance Court , the St.-Franziskus-Hospital , the construction and real estate company of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the former Oberpostdirektion Münster , the Oberfinanzdirektion Münster , the Elderly and senior center Klarastift, the Albert Schweitzer school ( Montessori school ), the Anne Frank school (vocational college) , the Mauritz school (elementary school) as well as the kindergarten and children's home St. Mauritz and the Mauritz cemetery .
