Oluwasey George "Seyi" Olofinjana (born June 30, 1980 in Lagos ) is a Nigerian football player . The midfielder was most recently under contract with Hull City .
Club career
Olofinjana played in his home country with Kwara United in the Nigerian Premier League until 2002 . In early 2003 he moved to the Norwegian club Brann Bergen , where he only missed a single game in his first season and scored nine goals this season. After another nine missions at the beginning of the 2004 season, he was about to move to the French club AS Monaco . However, he failed the medical check-up because of an abnormality in his heart. A short time later he moved to the English club Wolverhampton Wanderers for 1.7 million pounds , who could not find any problems.
In the second division he was mostly a fixture in midfield for the next four years. After he narrowly missed promotion to the Premier League several times with Wolverhampton , he moved to Stoke City in 2008 after 135 league games (16 goals) for 3 million pounds . Although Olofinjana was able to celebrate an early success with his goal to win the 2-1 home win against Arsenal FC early on, he could not fight for a regular place in the midfield of the "Potters" and had to sit mostly on the bench. The club accepted a £ 2.5 million offer from AS Monaco after just under a year . However, the trade broke up in August 2009 and so Olofinjana switched instead to first division rivals Hull City for three million pounds . In August 2010, the midfielder signed for the 2010/11 season on loan with Cardiff City .
National team
Olofinjana first appeared in a friendly against Malawi in the Nigerian national team in June 2000 . 2004 and 2008 he was in the squad of the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations . In 2004 he was in the starting line-up in five games and reached 3rd place with the team, four years later they failed in the quarter-finals. In 2006, he missed participation because of persistent back problems that caused him to suspend most of the 2005/06 season.
