Seyran

Seyran Ismayilkhanov (born May 22, 1980 in Baku ) is an Azerbaijani singer-songwriter who has lived in Cologne since 2005 .

Career

Seyran grew up in Baku / Azerbaijan. He first learned to play classical piano and violin. He later studied singing at the Gnesin Music Academy in Moscow.

His first Russian single, Uletau , was a hit in 2002. Although he now lived in Germany, he was the 2008 Special Price winner of the Russian 5 STARS Song Contest . In Cologne he founded the ethno-jazz-pop group Different Joy with the pianist Norman Erik Kunz . In 2010 his first single, Waiting for your call, produced in Germany, appeared in 14 different versions. His second hit, Wild Kisses , was released in the same year . This song was released in 24 countries on the Oriental Garden compilation . In February 2011 he won the Golden Melody Song Festival in Cyprus with the song Kanatsiz Melekler ( Angel without Wings ). The success led to Seyran being invited to Istanbul to produce his first album Kanatsiz Melekler . It contains 13 self-composed songs in Turkish.

In 2012 he reached 2nd place at the Balkan Eurovision Song Contest / Sunchane Skala with the song Let the sunshine . In the same year he wrote the number 1 hit My heart makes BOOM BOOM BOOM for the Tajik singer Tahmina Niazova and also played in the video for the song.

In 2015/16 Seyran produced his first German-language album Nur die Liebe Counts with 14 pop songs. Texts and music were written by the artist himself, the songs are mainly about love and longing for her. Elaborate videos were made for the two single releases of the newly produced Azerbaijani folk tunes Sari gelin and Gözelim sensen .

In 2018 Seyran remembered his Caucasian roots and in March inspired the Cologne audience with his concert Spirit of Caucasus .

The production of the CD of the same name followed in 2019, the release of which is planned for February 2020. In September 2019 she participated in "The Voice of Germany". After the great success at the "blind auditions" he decided to coach Sido, but was eliminated in the round of the "battles".

style

Seyran's music fuses German and English pop with oriental musical influences. His ethno-pop songs contain sounds from different regions, not just Europe.
