Shafique Keshavjee

Shafique Keshavjee (born December 13, 1955 in Nairobi ) is a Protestant theologian, author and university professor. He became known through his novel The King, the Wise and the Fool (original title Le roi, le sage et le bouffon ).

Life

Shafique Keshavjee was born to Indian- Ismaili parents in Kenya. He lived in Great Britain from 1959 to 1962. In 1963/1964 he came to Switzerland and converted to Christianity in the 1970s. He studied political science and Protestant theology in Lausanne and did his doctorate on the religious scholar Mircea Eliade . Shafique Keshavjee is one of the initiators of the l´Arzillier ecumenical meeting place in Lausanne. Since 2005 he has been Professor of Protestant Theology at the University of Geneva . He is married and has four sons.
