Because of her love affair with the President of the World Bank and former Vice President of the Pentagon, Paul Wolfowitz , Riza has occasionally been referred to as one of the most influential Muslim women in Washington. In 2007 the public began to be interested in possible nepotism within the World Bank between Shaha Ali Riza and Paul Wolfowitz, which led to Wolfowitz announcing his resignation as World Bank President on June 30, 2007. The relationship between Paul Wolfowitz and Shaha Ali Riza has now ended.
