Shakedown is a 1987 song by Bob Seger written by him, Harold Faltermeyer, and Keith Forsey . It was produced by Keith Forsey and is part of the soundtrack for Beverly Hills Cop II .
history
Originally, Seger's friend and colleague Glenn Frey , who also sang the song The Heat Is On for the film Beverly Hills Cop - I'll definitely solve it , was planned. But Frey didn't like the song and also dropped out because of laryngitis , so Seger sang it. After the song was a success, Frey called Seger on, congratulated him and said, "At least we kept the money in Michigan!" (German: "At least we have the money in Michigan to keep!").
Released on May 22, 1987, the pop rock song became a number one hit in the United States and Canada . At the Oscar ceremony in 1988 the song in the category was Best Song , as well as at the 1988 Golden Globe Awards in the category Best Original Song nomination, but lost the duet (I've Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes . Still, he was sung by Little Richard at the 1988 Academy Awards .
