Shalisa van der Laan (born December 19, 1999 in Wognum ) is a Dutch singer who became known through her participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 .

Career

Van der Laan took part in a singing competition at the age of eight, the song festival van Kinderen voor Kinderen organized by the VARA broadcaster , and made it to the finals. In 2011 she took part in the Dutch version of The Voice Kids and reached the final preliminary round. Van der Laan took singing lessons at the Babette Labeij Music Academy in Amsterdam for two years and has been attending the Dutch School of Popular Music (DSOPM) since 2014. On October 3rd, 2015 van der Laan won the Dutch preliminary decision of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the self-written song Million Lights . On November 21, 2015, she represented the Netherlands in the host country Bulgaria and reached the penultimate place with fifteen.
