Sharpstones Hill

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sharp Stones Hill is an archaeological site, which is about 400 meters southwest of Weeping Cross ( Shropshire , England is located). Settlements from the Bronze Age and, above all, the late Iron and Roman Ages have been found here. One facility was excavated in 1969. There was a fence (37 meters square) with a ditch and a circular hut in the middle. It is likely to be a rural Celtic settlement . The place was inhabited until Roman times, without changing the general character. The ceramic indicates an occupancy until the second century after Christ. Probably in Roman times the round hut was replaced by a square hut. These remains of settlements show how the simple population lived in Celtic and Roman times.
