Shawn Huang Wei Zhong (* 1982 ) is a Singaporean politician ( People's Action Party ). He has been a director at Tasek Jurong Ltd, a non-profit organization, since 2014 and was a former F-16 fighter pilot in the Republic of Singapore Air Force .

Shawn Huang was born in Singapore as Ingkiriwang Shawn Wei Zhong. Ingkiriwang was the family name his great-grandfather adopted when he was still in Indonesia. In 1989, a certificate poll was conducted to change the surname back to Huang. However, due to administrative confusion, Huang wasn't known as Ingkiriwang until 2018 when he was the parade commander for the 53rd National Day Parade.

Shawn graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in aerospace engineering in 2006 .

Career

Military career

Shawn Huang joined the Singapore Air Force as a trainee pilot in 2001 and has over 1000 flight hours on the CT4B, S211, A-4 Super Skyhawk and F-16 Fighting Falcon. He held several personnel and operational appointments and was the commanding officer of 140 Squadron. He continues to serve his National Service (NS) as an F-16 fighter pilot.

Shawn Huang was the parade commander for the Halimah Yacob Ceremony on September 14, 2017.

Huang was criticized online for his tenure as NDP commander by a warrant officer who was then responsible for the NDP logistics control group. Huang denied the allegation. He also explained the story of changing his last name from Ingkiriwang to Huang.

Shawn Huang was installed for the Singapore general election in 2020 and represented the People's Action Party in the Jurong Group constituency. There are also other candidates in Jurong GRC including Tharman Shanmugaratnam , Rahayu Mazam, Tan Wu Meng and Xie Yao Quan.

Xie Yao Quan is the Healthcare Reform Administrator at Alexandra Hospital, a member of the National University Health System (NUHS) specializing in the Community Care and Community Recovery Facility for the COVID-19 pandemic . He has been volunteering in the community since 2015 and is known to the residents through the board of the communication and engagement task force of SG Enable and Merdeka Generation.

He replaces the withdrawn candidate Ivan Lim Shaw Chuan. He was a student at Singapore Polytechnic and General Manager of Shipping at Keppel Shipyard. He was also CO of the Combat Engineers Battalion. It was happened during the field exercise in Khatib Bongsu in 2013.
