Shaxlo Maxmudova

Shaxlo Nasimovna Maxmudova is an Uzbek politician.

Shaxlo Maxmudova studied at the Textile Science Institute in Tashkent . During the Soviet Union she joined the Komsomol mass organization and eventually became the secretary of the Uzbek Komsomol department. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, she was appointed Foreign Minister by President Islom Karimov . She only held this office for a few months. During this time, however, the Republic of Uzbekistan joined the United Nations and established independent diplomatic relations with many states. After her release as Foreign Minister, she headed a government agency for attracting foreign business investment.
