Sheila Borg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sheila Borg (* 1941 in Graz ; † probably 2006 , bourgeois Mechthild Steng ) was an Austrian pop singer .

Borg learned to play the piano as a child and, after graduating from school, founded the jazz duo "Jo & Sheila" in her hometown, which couldn't go beyond local appearances. In 1963 she signed a record deal as a solo artist with the German record label Polydor and released a single called I've Been Alone For A Long Long While , which Bert Kaempfert produced. The single was not a success. In the same year she released her only album, Nur für mich , on Polydor , on which she only performed hits. In her Austrian homeland she was unsuccessful; only in southern Germany did it receive airplay on the radio. Borg then ended her career as a musician.

Nothing is known about her further life. Klaus Maria Brandauer , to whom Borg was related, reported in an interview in 2006 that she recently passed away.
