The Sheridan Peak is a 955 m high mountain on South Georgia . It rises near the head end of the Nordenskjöld glacier .
Scientists of the British South Georgia Expedition (1954–1955) named it as Thin Ridge (English for narrow ridge ). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 1988, however after Major James Guy Sheridan (* 1942) from the Royal Marines , in the course of the April 25th, 1982 Falklands War , the declaration of surrender of the Argentine troops to the occupation of South Georgia at King Edward Point was accepted.
