Shipton Ridge is a mountain range in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It forms the northeast branch of the Allan Hills .
It was explored in 1964 by a team working in the Allan Hills as part of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program . This named him after the British mountaineer Eric Shipton (1907–1977) and his connection to the New Zealand geologist Noel Ewart Odell (1890–1987), after whom the nearby Odell Glacier is named.
