Shishido Baiken
Shishido Baiken ( Japanese 宍 戸 梅 軒 ) was a Japanese swordsman from the Iga province of the Edo period . He was very skilled with the sword, but gradually specialized in handling the kusarigama (chain sickle) . Around 1607 he dueled with Miyamoto Musashi and was killed by him in Edo .
However, its actual existence is not historically secured. The first record of Musashi's duel with him comes from the Nitenki ( 二天 記 ), written in 1776, where he is called Shishido Bō . The name Shishido Baiken first appeared in Yoshikawa Eiji's novel Musashi .
