Tsanggar monastery

The Tsanggar Monastery (Chinese: Shizang si 石 藏寺) or Tsanggar Döndrub Rabten Ling ( Tib. GTsang sgar don drub rab brtan gling ) is a Gelugpa monastery of Tibetan Buddhism in the Tibetan cultural region of Amdo .

It is located in Tongde / Kawasumdo County ( ka ba sum mdo ) in northwest China's Qinghai Province . The monastery was founded in 1765 by Tsang Pandita Tenpe Gyatsho ( gtsang pandita bstan pa'i rgya mtsho ; 1737–1780), who had close ties to Trashilhünpo Monastery .

The monastery was destroyed in 1941 by the Muslim warlord Ma Bufang and later rebuilt.

It has been on the List of Monuments of Qinghai Province since 1988 .
