Shizhongshan Grottoes

The Shizhongshan Grottoes ( Chinese  石鐘山石窟  /  石钟山石窟 , Pinyin Shízhōngshān Shiku , English Shizhongshan Grottoes and Stone Bell Mountain Caves ) or Shizhongshan-rock caves , also under the name Shizhongshan Grottoes Jianchuan ( 劍川石鐘山石窟  /  剑川石钟山 石窟 , Jiànchuān Shízhōngshān Shíkū , English Jianchuan Stone Bell Mountain Buddhist Caves ) are located in the southwest of Jianchuan剑川 in Yunnan Province , China. It is a series of Buddhist cave temples from the time of the Nanzhao and Dali empires .

The most important grottos are spread over the area of Shizhongsi石 钟 寺, Shiziguan狮子 关 and Shadengcun沙登 村.

A great variety of sculptures have been preserved. The portraits include Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, kings, queens, ladies-in-waiting, civil servants, the military and the like. a. Her clothes are in the style of the Chinese national minorities. They are part of the artistic heritage of the Bai (白) ethnic group .

Since 1961, the Shizhongshan Grottoes have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China in Yunnan (1-47).
