Shock Troopers is a run-and-gun arcade game released in 1997 by Saurus for Neo Geo .
Plot and game play
As a member of an armed special unit, you fight your way through a total of six levels with a character in order to save a kidnapped scientist and his granddaughter. You can choose different routes (mountain, jungle, valley) and collect powerups to get better weapons.

In 1998 the sequel Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad was released .

The game was included on the SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 for PlayStation 2 .
In May 2012 it was added as a download from the PSN store for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable ; In October 2012, a release for Wii followed via Virtual Console . A version for the Nintendo Switch followed on March 3 .
