Shock Wave in Six Flags Over Texas ( Arlington , Texas , USA ) is a steel roller coaster manufactured by Schwarzkopf GmbH , which opened in 1978. It was the first roller coaster to be equipped with two consecutive loops . Likewise, when it opened, it was the tallest roller coaster in the world. Just a few weeks later, the record was broken by the Loch Ness Monster in Busch Gardens: The Old Country (today: Busch Gardens Europe ). Werner Stengel used the principle of the heart line for the first time with Shock Wave , which turned out to be a milestone in the subsequent roller coaster designs.
The approximately 1100 m long route reaches a height of 35 m and has a 32 m high first drop of 49 °, on which the trains can reach a top speed of 97 km / h. Up to 5.9 g act briefly in the two loops .
