Sebastian Fritzsch (born May 20, 1977 in Cologne ) is a German photographer , film director , screenwriter and visual artist.

biography

Sebastian Fritzsch studied cultural and theater studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin , and also completed several internships in film. In addition, she made her first own short films. In 2002 he studied photography for a semester at the University of Graphic Art and Book Art in Leipzig and from 2003 at the Art Academy for Media Cologne with a focus on film direction and photography . During this time he made 14 short films and several photo exhibitions. He finished his studies in 2009 with the short film Traces and a photographic work as a diploma thesis .

In 2010, Sebastian Fritzsch moved into a studio at the Kunsthaus Essen and has since worked in parallel with his filmic and photographic work with the media of painting, drawing, collage and sculpture. He has exhibited in various galleries and exhibition spaces in Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalia. Today he lives and works in Cologne.

Movies

Sebastian Fritzsch's short film Traces was shown at the 43rd Hof International Film Festival 2009. The title traces also appears in the short film catalog German Short Films 2010 of the Federal Association of German Short Films in a selection of 100 German short films.

Prior to that, Sebastian Fritzsch was represented with the documentary short film Ein Sack voll Salz and the short films Here, Pia and Together is represented at several renowned German film festivals such as the 25th International Short Film Festival Hamburg 2009 or the Film Festival Max-Ophüls-Preis 2005.

In 2013 Fritzsch's film Endzeit was shown at the Berlin International Film Festival in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino section.

Visual arts

Sebastian Fritzsch presented his photographs, paintings, graphics, collages and objects at various exhibitions. a. Henseleit Gallery in Cologne, Loge exhibition room in Essen , DD55 Gallery , GOLD + BETON .

Others

Sebastian Fritzsch is also a co-founder and co-operator of the Essen art space Loge . Since 2009 the works of mainly young artists have been exhibited in the monthly changing program. Among other things, works by the artistic director of the Schauspielhaus Bochum Elmar Goerden together with the visual artist Daniela Friebel were exhibited. From 2012 to 2016 he also headed the TOTALE exhibition program at Maschinenhaus Essen.
