The Short SB.6 Seamew was a two-seater fighter aircraft of the Royal Air Force for anti-submarine combat .
history
Of the 41 machines ordered for the Royal Air Force, only 19 were delivered ready for service. Due to the very poor flight characteristics, in the end only seven copies of the Short Seamew were in active service with the Royal Air Force between 1953 and 1957 . The problems could not be solved with the improved version Short Seamew Mk.2 either.
construction
The cockpit was placed very far forward and the antenna for the radar was in a dome under the bow. The engines had been greatly reduced in size for better radar coverage. This machine had a rigid tail wheel chassis. The large weapon bay was in the middle of the machine's hull.
