Alu (also called Shortland Island ) is an island in the northwest of the island state of the Solomon Islands . It has a land area of ​​221 km², the highest point is 237 m above sea level.

The island belongs to the Shortland Islands , which politically divide the Solomon Islands archipelago into a north and a south group.

Around 2,000 people lived on aluminum in 1976.
