Shut Lane Mill

The Shut Lane Mill (also: Altegeder Mill , Whitefriars Mill , Nassington's Mill , Sexton's Mill , Queeney's Mill , Howlett's Mill , Peabody's Mill ) was a mill on the River Sherbourne in Coventry , England . The only reminder of the building is a plaque on building 48-102 Gulson Road.

Mills have been an important part of England's economy since the Middle Ages. Shut Lane Mill has had many different names throughout its history. Owners included the Earls of Chuster, Priory St. Mary (Whitefriars) and the Old Grammar School . It existed since the 12th century and was closed in 1841 for health reasons; the building existed until about 1930.
