Siavash Ghomayshi ( Persian سياوش قميشي, DMG Siyāvoš Gomayšī , born June 11, 1945 in Ahvaz ) is a Persian singer , composer and songwriter who lives in California .

life and work

Siavash Ghomayshi left Iran at the age of 11. He studied classical jazz in London at the Royal Society of Arts. He subsequently worked as a pianist and singer for the bands The Rebels and The Insects, among others . At the age of 25 he returned to Iran, where he initially worked as a composer. He wrote songs for well-known Persian singers like Ebi , Zia and Betty. He released his first own album, Farangis, in 1972 in Iran. After the Iranian Revolution he left the country due to the uncertain situation in the local music business and settled in the United States.

Siavash has developed his own style of singing in the pop / rock genre, which is copied by young singers in Iran. Originally he worked with classical instruments on all albums, but in recent years he has incorporated electronic elements into his music without losing the sound that is characteristic of him.

His song lyrics are largely apolitical, but the longing for his homeland is expressed in many.
