The Siberian State Medical University ( Russian Сибирский государственный медицинский университет ) is a State Medical University in Tomsk ( Russia ) and emerged from the Tomsk State University . In 1878 a medical faculty was founded there. In 1888 it was converted into this new university, making it the oldest medical university east of the Urals .

There are nine faculties. The principal is Olga S. Kobyakova.

Around 7500 students study here every year.
