Sibut is the capital of the prefecture of Kémo in the Central African Republic, with a population of 34,267 .

Sibut is on Tomi . The river has only a slight gradient from Sibut, so that the river was navigable for pirogues and developed into a transshipment point for trade with Chad.

history

In 1896 E. Gentil founded the French base Krébédjé there. The city emerged from a merger of Fort Sibut and the colonial post Krébédjé.
