Safety barrier

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A safety barrier or barricade is usually a transportable barrier that is intended to ensure public safety ( police barriers or to block a street) or the private security of events.

Police grid / Hamburger Reiter / Hamburger grid
Hooks and eyes to prevent the mesh wall from being pushed open; Stabilizing elements against overturning; Relatively easy relocation by police forces possible
Stage grille / crash barrier
much more massive design compared to the police grille; stationary use at major events; Step plate on the protective side for evacuation of medical emergencies
Entrance lock
Floor like stage grille, on both sides like Mannheim grilles; Use in access control
Mannesmann grid / Monrovia grid / Luxembourg grid / Mannheim grid
Hooks and eyes to prevent the mesh wall from being pushed open; Overturning easily possible, therefore only in "calm" crowds
Belt barrier post / tensator
System within buildings for maneuvering people; Similar safety belts are of post tensioned to post or wall clip
Swivel bracket or narrow swivel wing
prevent unauthorized persons at the ends of the platforms from entering the subway and tram routes. These wings keep the clearance profile of the runway free.
Gate gates
... on road-rail translations that block the road on both sides with two wings while the rail is crossing, are swiveled to the side to clear the road connection so that they block access to the track; common in the UK.
Barrier chain,
... which blocked the way over mostly two tracks between two platforms, hung between two posts with one or two carabiners. Railway employees who cross here on foot or by trolley (for luggage or express mail items) open this barrier temporarily

Barriers that are transported with vehicles are intended to prevent people from climbing over - longer - couplings to or between the trailers of a train:

Old tram trains
... from 2–3 wagons in Vienna had a chain stretched between them, somewhat slack in the direction of travel, which also carried a sign with the prohibition notice above the coupling point.
Cart trains in industrial production facilities
... can carry barrier elements between the pulled wagons. In the case of the Fendt tractor plant , these are doubled, each near the corner of the car - on both sides of the coupling hose for the compressed air brake, which runs in the middle as an upward curve - as a red band under the tensile force of a winding device. However, the coupling point to the towing vehicle remains free.
