Security coordinator

The term security coordinator refers to an expert entrusted with police or political tasks.

The European Union has had a security coordinator since the beginning of 2004. In the fight against terror, Gijs de Vries is to coordinate the police and secret service information of the member countries and thus achieve greater effectiveness.

Particularly in the case of state visits and in the run-up to major events (world championships, European championships, etc.), special people, mostly in the police force, are appointed as coordinators of protective measures for those involved. He should recognize problems in good time and initiate measures to prevent disasters or accidents.
