from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Security Police School Drögen (also the Security Police School Fürstenberg / Mecklenburg ) was a training facility for members of the Security Police of the German Reich during the Nazi era . It was located in the settlement of Drögen in the then Mecklenburg , now Brandenburg town of Fürstenberg / Havel . The distance to the center of Berlin was about 80 km via Reichsstrasse 96 .

history

The Security Police School was established in 1941/42 by prisoners from the Sachsenhausen concentration camp . It served for several months of training for members of the Secret State Police (Gestapo) and the Criminal Police (Kripo). The Gestapo and Kripo together formed the security police subordinate to the Reich Security Main Office . The permanent staff of the security police school consisted of officials from the Gestapo and leaders of the security service of the Reichsführer SS (SD). Daily work in the security police school had to be done by inmates from the Ravensbrück concentration camp .

Due to the war , Gestapo files were relocated to the Drögen Security Police School and parts of the Racial Hygiene Research Center and the Criminal Biology Institute of the Security Police were relocated there to protect against air raids on Berlin . The Lange special commission , which was tasked with tracking down the assassins of July 20, 1944 , had a branch in the security police school and interrogated suspects there.

The first head of the security police school was Hans Trummler . The teaching staff included Hermann Herz and Richard Lebküchner . Wilhelm Canaris and Rudolf Pechel were among those interrogated at the security police school .

After the end of the Second World War, the approximately 50 hectare site served as barracks for the group of Soviet armed forces in Germany until 1990 .
