Sidereal ( Latin sidus 'star', 'star'; Greek σίδηρος sideros 'iron', 'steel'; made from it) stands for:
- the reference to the fixed stars in astronomy
- Sidereal period , the time it takes for a celestial body to make one true revolution or orbit, as opposed to the synodic period
- Sidereal year ( sidereal year ), the true duration of one orbit of the earth around the sun
- Sidereal month , the duration of one orbit of the moon around the earth (27,322 days)
- Sidereal day , the time of the recurring culmination of a fictional, infinitely distant fixed star (without its own movement)
