Wilhelm "Willi" Dürrschnabel (born February 7, 1945 in Bietigheim ; † November 17, 2014 ) was a football player at Karlsruher SC from 1963 to 1968 .

career

Dürrschnabel began his football career at SV Germania Bietigheim , where he played in the A-youth and the South Baden team until he was 17 . At the same time he completed an apprenticeship as a printer . In 1962 he moved to the A-Jugend of Karlsruher SC , which was one of the founding members of the Bundesliga the following year . With the youth national team of the DFB he prevailed in the qualification against Austria in February / March 1963 and took part with the DFB-Elf in the UEFA youth tournament in England in April . There, Dürrschnabel, playing on the half-left, was used alongside teammates like Klaus Zaczyk and Günter Netzer in the group games against Greece, Scotland and Switzerland.

Dürrschnabel was part of the KSC squad for the first five Bundesliga seasons, from 1965/66 as a regular in midfield and attack and scored ten goals in 91 appearances. At the age of 18 he made his debut on September 14, 1963 in the away game of KSC at Eintracht Braunschweig in the Bundesliga . Coach Kurt Sommerlatt had set in the 2-0 defeat in the attack on the formation with Erwin Metzger , Klaus Zaczyk, Otto Geisert , Dürrschnabel and Horst Wild .

After the relegation of KSC in 1968 - Dürrschnabel had scored two goals in 26 appearances under the coaches Paul Frantz , Georg Gawliczek and Bernhard Termath - he played for four years in Switzerland at FC St. Gallen . At the age of 30 he returned to Baden and played in the 1st amateur league at SC Baden-Baden . From 1976 to 1979 he was a trainer in Baden-Baden . The end of his active career was his commitment as a coach at his home club SV Germania Bietigheim until 1982.

After his active career, he was active as a councilor in his home town of Bietigheim .
