Seven Beauties (Ballet)

The Seven Beauties ( Azerbaijani Yeddi gözəl ) is a ballet created in 1952 in four pictures by the Azerbaijani composer Qara Qarayev (music), by Ismail Hidayetzade, Yuri Slominski, Sabit Rahman (all libretto) and Petr Gusev (choreography) based on motifs by Nezami Ganjawis Poem Seven Beauties . Anwar Almaszade and Fedor Gusak provided the equipment. The work was premiered on November 7, 1952 at the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet House in Baku with Gamar Almaszade and Yuri Kuznetsov in the leading roles. In 1960 the ballet was performed at the Prague State Opera .
