The infirmary chapel in Geislingen an der Steige , a town in the district of Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ), built in the late Middle Ages , is a protected architectural monument .
history
The Siechenkapelle is the residue of a 1398 first mentioned hospice house , which was canceled 1811th The chapel was to be demolished in 1993 by the then owner, the Federal Republic of Germany. This was prevented by the initiative of the Geislingen Art and History Association and an administrative court proceeding. The city of Geislingen then acquired the chapel for the symbolic amount of one D-Mark.
description
The chapel is a late Gothic hall with wall paintings depicting the Passion cycle , the Last Judgment and the resurrection of Jesus Christ . On the massive ground floor is the half-timbered attic . The chapel is of a gabled roof covered.
