Sierra Blanca (Spain)

The Sierra Blanca is a mountain range in the hinterland of the Costa del Sol in Andalusia in Spain . The name refers to the white marble stone , which this mountain region mainly consists of.

The ridge lies between the Costa del Sol and the Sierra de las Nieves and is roughly bounded by the cities of Istan , Ojén , Monda and Marbella .

The highest peak is the 1,275 m high Cerro Lastonar . However, the Pico de la Concha (1,270 m) in the west, which is conspicuously visible from the coast , is known, so called because it looks like the shell of a striped clam. Other peaks are the Salto del Lobo (1,225 m), Cerro de la Zarina (1,141 m) and the Cruz de Juanar in the east (1,178 m).
