Sietske (singer)

Sietske Roscam Abbing (born December 11, 1985 ) is a Dutch jazz musician (song, composition, lyricist) who appears as a singer under her first name Sietske .

Live and act

Sietske studied singing at the Conservatories of Arnhem, Utrecht and Amsterdam ( Bachelor 2010). At the same time, she began her career in the Dutch club scene as the leader of the soul / jazz crossover band Follow Alice , with whom she released her first album Outside in 2010 in collaboration with guitarist Martijn Michel . She continued her studies in Amsterdam and at Boyer College at Temple University in Philadelphia until 2012, with her thesis dealing with the synthesis of text and music using the example of German art song in the 19th century.

In spring 2012 she founded a jazz quintet together with pianist Dirk Balthaus , with which she released the album Where It Starts Again , which received good reviews in 2014 , and the album Leaving Traces with her own compositions in 2017 .

Sietske teaches at the True School of Music in Mumbay, where she heads the Western Singing Department.
