history
In 1942, a simple post with distances to different locations was damaged during construction. The American soldier Carl K. Lindley was hired to repair the signpost . He decided to personalize the work by adding a sign "Danville, Illinois, 2835 miles" pointing in the direction and distance from his home town of Danville , United States . Other people did the same.
Today, the Sign Post Forest takes up several acres and the ward continues to set new stakes. There are numerous street signs , license plates and many other signs from all over the world.
