Signal transducer CD24 is a surface protein in B cells , T cells and granulocytes .

properties

CD24 is a cell adhesion molecule and promotes the activation of the B cell receptor in B cells when antigen binds . CD24 has a GPI anchor and is sialylated . CD24 groups the B cell receptors in lipid rafts . It is also involved in the activation of granulocytes. In T cells it is a costimulator .

CD24 occurs more frequently in some tumors and is therefore a marker . It is believed to be oncogenic . A lack of the function of the CD24 is involved in the development of autoimmune diseases .
